The Baba Budan Giri region was one of the first new homes for coffee when the sage Baba Budan smuggled his beans from Arabia to India in the late 1600s. The evolution of these beans over the last three centuries has resulted in the high-quality beans that we receive from Kalledevarapura Estate today. But that evolution would be incomplete without the hard and innovative work of brothers D.M. Shankar & D.M. Purnesh and their family. The estate has the best shade setup for growing coffee with jack fruit, fig and silver oak trees that combined with the right rainfall give rise to superior Arabica beans.
The hardworking staff on this estate are provided with free electricity, water and living quarters with their children also receiving free education. The estate has been on the receiving end of prestigious awards that include the “Flavour of India – Fine Cup Award” and “1st Quality Prize Espresso” from Illy Caffe.
