After turning heads with Chocolate-Kissed Guava, Yogitha and Aveen Rodrigues return with another captivating release from Melkodige Estate. This lot undergoes an 80-hour wine yeast-assisted anoxic fermentation, where carefully controlled conditions coax exceptional fruit complexity while preserving clarity and balance. The result is an intensely expressive cup, led by ripe tropical fruits that unfold into bright sweet lime and a delicate Pinot Noir-like elegance, carried by a rich sweetness and beautifully structured acidity.

Bursting with ripe aromas of mango, musk melon and hints of papaya, this coffee opens with vibrant tropical character. The cup layers juicy mango, sweet lime and delicate Pinot Noir-like notes over a rich, syrupy mouthfeel. A bright, lingering acidity brings clarity and lift, while a pronounced natural sweetness carries through to a long, clean finish. An expressive brew that shines across pour-over methods, AeroPress and French press.
Perfectly ripe coffee cherries are handpicked, meticulously sorted, and washed to remove floaters before entering an 80-hour anoxic fermentation. Inside sealed barrels, each layer of cherries is inoculated with carefully applied wine yeast, encouraging a controlled fermentation that builds complexity while preserving clarity. The cherries are then slow-dried on shaded raised beds for 16 days, allowing flavours to develop gradually and resulting in a vibrant, expressive cup with remarkable depth and balance.

Characteristics

Perched 4,000 feet above sea level, Melkodige Estate is nestled within the tranquil mountain ranges of the Kudremukh Bio Reserve, situated in the Western Ghats—one of the world’s top ten biodiversity hotspots. At this elevation, Arabica coffee beans mature at a relaxed pace, allowing for the cultivation of the exquisite flavors that coffee connoisseurs cherish. Melkodige Estate is home to exclusive heirloom varieties such as Sln 9, Sln 795, Sln 6, and Sln 5, alongside a selection of dwarf varieties like Chandragiri, HDT, Catimor, and Obatã. The estate employs diverse processing methods to craft its coffee, including fermented washed coffee, anaerobic fermented coffee, aerobic fermented coffee, yeast fermented coffee, and pulp sun-dried coffee. Each batch is professionally Q-graded to ensure the highest quality.
As proud producers of specialty coffee, we believe in the transformative power of a great cup. “The experience of a great cup of coffee is like sipping on a rainbow—it can stir our senses, rejuvenate our bodies, lift our spirits, and warm our hearts. The secret lies within the tiny coffee bean.”
